DIARM
SCAHILL
VOCAL COACH
SINGING TEACHER
Diarm Scahill is a London-based singing teacher who has worked with professional performers across theatre, television, film, and the recording industry for over a decade.
For the past five years, he has taught at The Arts Educational School, London, helping emerging artists refine their craft, build reliable voices, and develop creative freedom.
About Diarm
Before training in Musical Theatre at ArtsEd, Diarm earned a First-Class Honours degree in Mathematical Sciences from the University of Galway - a foundation that instilled the rigour and analytical precision that continues to shape his work today.
His performance training nurtured his creativity, musicality, and artistry, and his subsequent Postgraduate Certificate in Voice Pedagogy (Distinction) from the University of Wales, Trinity Saint David allowed him to combine these qualities into a holistic, evidence-based approach to voice.
As a performer, Diarm appeared in productions including Grease, Hairspray, and Elf, as well as on television, in commercials and as a backing vocalist. His own experience of recurring vocal difficulties led to a deep and ongoing study of the voice - an exploration that underpins his teaching today.

Training & Expertise
Diarm has completed advanced training internationally, including Levels I–III of Somatic Voicework™ – The LoVetri Method at Baldwin Wallace University, Ohio, and the Summer Vocology Institute at the University of Utah, where he studied with Dr Ingo Titze, Dr Kitty Verdolini-Abbott, and Dr Lynn Helding.
In Utah, his studies encompassed human cadaver dissection, acoustic analysis, and the psychology of skill acquisition, exploring how singers learn, adapt, and practice most effectively.
He continues to observe at the Lewisham Voice Clinic and the Performers’ Clinic at Guy’s Hospital, learning from leading specialists in vocal health and rehabilitation. He works alongside some of London’s leading physiotherapists, speech language therapists and clinicians, supporting performers’ vocal and physical wellbeing, and helping them overcome vocal difficulties.
In 2023, Diarm became one of the world’s first fully accredited directors/coaches of The Gonsalves Method - a ground-breaking approach to acting rooted in authenticity and connection, something we weaves into his teaching method.
“My mission is to support singers in realising their individual sound while maintaining balanced and efficient vocal production.”
How He Works
Diarm works with the whole person, not just the voice. Each session is tailored to the individual - practical, responsive, and grounded in both science and artistry.
After every lesson, you’ll receive a practice track and clear guidance on what to work on, how to practice, and how often. Time outside the lesson is treated as just as important as time within it. Lessons take place at his home in Earl’s Court (zone 1) or at ArtsEd, Chiswick.
You’ll move at a pace that suits you, with Diarm advising on the number and frequency of sessions needed to make steady, lasting progress.
His clients include West End performers, UK tour casts, and BAFTA Award–winning actors.
